I have always been fascinated by physics and the mathematical elegance that describes the fundamental laws of nature. I started my academic journey at the Hebrew University, where I completed my Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Jacob Bekenstein, focusing on the thermodynamics of black holes, and graduated summa cum laude in 2002. I then moved to the University of Alberta as a Killam Postdoctoral Fellow in the gravity group of Prof. Valeri Frolov to continue studying quantum gravity.
However, the lack of a solid theory of quantum gravity, coupled with the absence of observational experiments to test these models, motivated me to return to an enduring interest of mine concerning the profound and intricate relationship between quantum theory and information theory. Consequently, in 2004, I moved to UCSD to study theoretical quantum information with the group of David Meyer and Nolan Wallach. I then joined the University of Calgary as a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, and the institute for quantum science and technology (IQST), where I remained for 18 years. In early 2024, I joined the Faculty of Mathematics at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel, as a full professor.
This journey has reinforced my research on all facets of quantum information science, particularly its theoretical and mathematical advancements and the foundational aspects of quantum physics.
